Calm Is Magnetic: What Working On Both Sides Of The Camera Taught Me About Presence
For the past two decades, I have worked both in front of the camera and behind it, capturing people, directing, observing, and learning what makes someone truly present. Through all of it, there is one thing I have noticed over and over again. Calm is magnetic. When you bring calm energy into a space, people feel it immediately. They feel safe, and when people feel safe, they open up. That is when something real happens.
How To Be Calm?
Slow down your breathing. Not every thought needs your attention. Not every reaction needs to happen today. Protect your energy. Spend less time where chaos feels normal. Choose silence sometimes. You don’t need to explain yourself.
Move your body.
Walk.
Stretch.
Breathe.
And when life feels too heavy.. ask for help.
Life Is Also In The Simple Moments
A late dinner now and then never harmed anybody. A glass of wine. Watching the sky. Touching the grass with your bare feet. Calmness does not always come from doing more. Sometimes it comes from slowing down enough to feel alive again.
What I See Through The Lens
When someone is tense, it shows. When someone is rushing, it shows. But when someone is calm, present, and grounded, everything shifts. The way they move, the way they speak, the way they look into the camera. Calm creates space for something real to happen.

A Thought That Helps Me
Sometimes, before stepping in front of the camera or onto a stage, I imagine generations of my ancestors standing behind me. It reminds me that I am not alone in that moment. It brings perspective, and with it, calm.

A Small Reminder
Calm looks good on you. And taking care of yourself is not optional. It is part of how you show up in every area of your life. Let's cheer on one another. You can find me here 📸
